MATCH NOTES
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team will wrap up the 2013 regular season as the Owls host a pair of matches this weekend at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center. KSU first battles USC Upstate on Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. (ET), followed by a 2 p.m. match against East Tennessee State on Saturday, April 13.
Saturday will also be Senior Day as KSU honors the career of senior
Therese Lagerkvist.
Kennesaw State split a pair of matches last weekend, defeating Mercer 6-1 for its third-straight Atlantic Sun Conference victory in Macon on Saturday, before falling to No. 50 Arkansas 7-0 on Sunday.

Alexandra Apostu led the Owls against the Bears, first teaming with sophomore
Jana Hueckinghaus to continue the duo’s undefeated mark at No. 1 doubles in league play with an 8-2 win over Lucie Payrat and Isabel Dennis. It was the duo’s fifth-straight conference win. Apostu then registered the first singles victory against MU as she blanked Liza Klyachkin, 6-0, 6-0 on court three for her fourth-straight win at No. 3 singles.
For her performance against the Bears, Apostu earned her third career Player of the Week award and the first of the season for the Owls on Wednesday.
USC Upstate (12-6, 4-2) has tallied four consecutive wins after opening league pay with two-straight loses and is currently in sole possession of the No. 3 seed. The Spartans are coming off of a 6-1 loss to South Alabama on Sunday.
East Tennessee State (11-5, 6-0 A-Sun) enters Saturday’s match with an undefeated mark in conference action. The 2012 A-Sun runner-up saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va., losing to No. 17 Virginia, 4-1.
The Owls next travel to Johnson City, Tenn., to participate in the 2013 A-Sun Championship, hosted by ETSU on April 19-21. KSU’s seed and opponent will be determined following the conclusion of this weekend’s matches.
