ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team earned a 4-3 come-from-behind victory at South Carolina State on Saturday, March 9 as sophomore Virginie Stein clinched the match with a win at No. 1 singles.
 
Kennesaw State improves to 4-6 on the season with the win, while the Bulldogs fall to 6-3.
 
Despite an 8-3 win from sophomores Jana Hueckinghaus and Tamara Plocher on court two, the Owls dropped the doubles point to trail heading into singles action.
 
Junior Alexandra Apostu and freshman Isabela Castro evened the match at 2-2 after wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, but KSU would fall behind after the Bulldogs registered a victory on court five to move within one point of taking the match.
 
Hueckinghaus then delivered a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 decision over Klara Dohnalova at No. 3 singles, to set up Stein’s heroics on court one. The 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Freshman of the Year sealed the win with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Maria Craciun.
 
Kennesaw State next opens A-Sun play as the Owls travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for a match on Thursday, March 14 against North Florida. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. (ET).
