THE GAME: For the fourth straight season the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team will head to Macon, Ga. to participate in the General Shale Atlantic Sun Conference Postseason Tournament, taking on Florida Gulf Coast in a first round matchup this Wednesday, March 6 at 12 p.m. ET.
The Owls, who finished up the regular season at 7-23 under first year head coach
Nitra Perry, arrive as the No. 8 seed and will face off against top seeded Florida Gulf Coast (25-5) for the second straight game.

THE OPPONENT
FGCU ended the regular season undefeated in the A-Sun and is looking for its 20
th consecutive win. The Eagles are now ranked No. 9 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll and are receiving votes in the AP Top 25.
Sarah Hansen has eclipsed the 500-point mark on the season and is now leading the Eagle’s offense with a 17 points per game average to go along with her team high 7.7 rebounds per outing. Point guard Brittany Kennedy is averaging over five assists per game for the top offense in the A-Sun.
THE SERIES
Florida Gulf Coast leads in the all-time series, 11-2, with the last win for the Owls over the Eagles coming on Feb. 14, 2011 in Kennesaw, Ga. with a 63-52 win.
LAST OUTING
Even with a 74-36 loss at Florida Gulf Coast University in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday, March 2, the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team is headed to the Atlantic Sun Conference Postseason Tournament after finishing eighth in the final season standings.
Offensively,
Nicole Adams (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf HS) led KSU with her 12 points on three three-pointers followed by
Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglas County HS) with eight.
On the boards, junior
Chantel Kennedy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Colorado St.) set a new career-high with 14 rebound, 10 on the defensive end alone, while senior
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) ended with seven before fouling out midway through the second half.
THE NUMBERS
KSU is now fifth in the NCAA in fewest personal fouls per game, committing fewer than 11 infractions on average per contest.
The Owls are one of the best teams in the league in terms of perimeter defense, holding opponents to just a 28-percent success rate from beyond the arc, putting the black and gold in the top 50 nationally in that category.
The Owls have three players in the top 20 in the A-Sun in rebounding, more than any other team.
NEWS AND NOTES
Gideon on the Boards
Senior Sametria Gideon is now 22nd in the nation in total double-doubles with 14 and is leading the A-Sun in rebounding with 10.4 boards per game. Gideon is also one of just four active players in the country to be a school’s active career points and rebounds leader, holding 1,271 total points and 1,098 rebounds.

Four Owls are now averaging double-figures scoring including Gideon (11), Wells (11),
Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) (10) and four-time A-Sun Newcomer of the Week

Playing Time
Three Owls rank in the top 10 in the A-Sun in minutes played per game. Holliday is third at 34.6, Wells sits in fourth at 33.1 and Gideon is in fifth with 33.
Milestones to look out for
Holliday- 964 points. Gideon- tied the KSU single season record of 311 rebounds and is three blocks away from the single season record of 47.
