ALBUQUERQUE, N. M. – Nigel Talton of the Kennesaw State track and field team finished eighth in the nation in the 60m dash at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

Talton competed as an unattached athlete, running a school record 6.74 in the prelims. In the finals, Talton placed eighth with a time of 6.80.

“The US Indoor Championship is the most significant non-NCAA indoor meet of the season,” Head Coach Andy Eggerth said. “To finish eighth here is a big deal. Nigel is the fastest sprinter to come through KSU this far. The ability he can bring to our team can elevate our 4x100m team to the NCAA Championships.”

The track and field teams will return to action on Mar. 8 when the 2013 Outdoor Season begins in Conway, S.C. at the Coastal Carolina Invitational.
