Women’s Tennis Continues A-Sun Action at Lipscomb, Northern Kentucky

KENNESAW, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team will look to get back to its winning ways as the Owls face off against pair of conference foes this weekend. The Owls will travel to Nashville, Tenn., for a match against Lipscomb at the Hutson-Marsh-Griffith Tennis Center at 2 p.m. (ET), followed by KSU’s first-ever match against league newcomer Northern Kentucky at the Joyce E. Yeager Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m.
 
Kennesaw State (5-9, 0-3) is coming off of a pair of close Atlantic Sun Conference losses over the weekend as KSU dropped a 4-3 decision to Stetson on Friday, followed by a 4-1 defeat against Florida Gulf Coast.
 
The Owls led the Hatters 2-0 after taking the doubles point and a win from senior Therese Lagerkvist at No. 4 singles. SU then rallied to win four-straight singles wins to earn the victory. Freshman Isabela Castro rallied for a 5-7, 7-6, 6-0 win over Eveline Lepinay at No. 6 singles to push the final score to 4-3. Against the Eagles, junior Alexandra Apostu tallied the lone Owl point of the match with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Johanna Sterkel at No. 3 singles.
 
Lipscomb (6-8, 1-2) posted a sweep over the weekend, earning wins over Western Kentucky (4-0) and Northern Kentucky (7-0). The Bison opened A-Sun action with losses at FGCU (5-2) and Stetson (7-0) earlier in the month.
 
Northern Kentucky (0-10, 0-3) continues to search for its first win of the season and is coming off a 7-0 loss at Cincinnati on Tuesday.
 
The Owls continue their road trip on Saturday, April 6 with a 10 a.m. match at Mercer.
