ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team dropped only its fourth one-run game of the season as the Owls fell to Georgia State, 1-0, on Tuesday, March 26 at Heck Softball Field.
KSU moves to 23-6 on the season, while GSU improves to 19-9.
The Panthers plated the lone run of the game on a Paige Nowacki home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Junior starter
Amanda Henderson (Covington, Ga./Eastside HS) did not give up a hit while striking out six batters in four innings of work. Sophomore
Monica Vickery (Rossville, Ga./Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe HS) entered the game in the fifth inning in relief of Henderson, giving up three hits and one earned run to fall to 2-1 on the season.
The Owls posted three hits in the game, with senior
Sharon Swanson (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) going 2-for-3 to lead the Kennesaw State offense.
Katie Worley (8-5) earned the win for Georgia State. The Panthers recorded three hits, but committed two errors in the game.
Kennesaw State next hosts Georgia Tech on Wednesday, March 27 at Bailey Park. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. (ET). Live stats and ASun.TV video will be available via KSUOwls.com.
