EATONTON, Ga. – Behind the solid play of sophomore Austin Vick (Evans, Ga. / Greenbrier HS), the Kennesaw State men’s golf team is currently tied for second place through nearly two rounds of the Linger Longer Intercollegiate that is being contested at Great Waters at Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Ga.

The second round was suspended due to darkness after the first round was interrupted due to a rain and thunder that delayed play for two hours and 38 minutes.

"I really, really was proud with the way the guys hung in there after some tough scoring early on and working throughout the delay," head coach Jay Mosely said. "After the delay we took advantage of some good scoring conditions. We played consistent throught the whole day and that was something we've working on all year.

"We're just going to keep doing the same thing tomorrow," Moseley added. "We'll stay with our game plan and see what happens."

Vick posted a 2-under par 70 first round and is 1-under par through 12 holes in his second round, and is currently in seventh place, two shots behind co-leaders Cory Whitsett (Alabama) and Michael Gellerman (Oklahoma) who are at 5-under.

The Owls, who were tied with Georgia for third place after the first round, are 3-under on their second round and tied with Oklahoma State at even-par, 13 shots behind Alabama. The Crimson Tide opened with a 7-under par 281 and is currently 13-under par.

Senior Peder Hermansson (Gothenburg, Sweden / Katrine lundsgymnasiet), sophomore Jimmy Beck (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus HS) and junior Jonathan Klotz (Columbus, Ga. / Columbus HS) are all tied for 21st at 1-over par.

Carlos Segura Oliva (Malaga, Spain / Colegio El Limonar), who is playing as an individual, joins a group of six players tied for 21st.

Senior Ben Greene (Duluth, Ga. / Peachtree Ridge HS) is tied for 63rd after opening with a 6-over 78 and posting a 3-over total 55 through 13 holes.

Second-round action resumes at 8:30 a.m. (ET) on Sunday with the third round to follow. All the action can be followed live on the Internet at www.golfstatresults.com.
