MATCH NOTES
KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team continues Atlantic Sun Conference play as the Owls host Stetson on Friday, March 22 at Noon (ET), followed by a 10 a.m. match against Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, March 23. Both matches will be held at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga.
Kennesaw State (5-7, 0-1) split a pair of matches last weekend, opening A-Sun play with a 7-0 setback at North Florida on Thursday, March 14. The Owls then rebounded to post a 5-1 win over Bethune-Cookman on Friday, March 15. KSU tallied wins in five of six singles matches to earn the victory.
Stetson (7-5, 2-0) snapped its four-match win streak on Tuesday, falling to Harvard, 5-2. The Hatters have earned a pair of 7-0 conference wins over Northern Kentucky and Lipscomb. Diana Bukajeva leads SU with a 10-1 singles record, including a 7-1 mark at No. 3 singles. Lindsey Cable and Eveline Lepinay have combined for a 9-2 tally in doubles play, including a 6-1 record on court three.
Florida Gulf Coast (8-3, 2-0) is on a three-match win streak, including a 7-0 win over Green Bay in the Eagles’ last outing on Sunday. FGCU also posted wins over Lipscomb (5-2) and Northern Kentucky (7-0) in its conference opening weekend. The Eagles are led by Elizabeth Means and Johanna Sterkel, who both own a 9-2 mark in singles action.
The Owls will next head north for a pair of A-Sun matches, first traveling to Nashville, Tenn., for a match against Lipscomb on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m., followed by a match on Saturday, March 30 against league newcomer Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Ky., at 10 a.m.
