KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team is set for its first Atlantic Sun Conference road series of the season, as the Owls travel to Nashville, Tenn., for three games against Lipscomb on Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17 at Draper Diamond. First pitch for both days is slated for 3 p.m. (ET), with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, followed by the series finale on Sunday.

Kennesaw State (18-3, 2-0 A-Sun) opened the conference season off with a bang on Wednesday, taking two from rival Mercer at Bailey Park. The Owls opened the doubleheader with a 3-0 win in game one, before posting its eighth one-run victory of the season, a 2-1 result in game two.
Senior
Sharon Swanson (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) led the KSU offense with two homeruns and three RBI against Mercer, with junior
Amanda Henderson (Covington, Ga./Eastside HS) earning the win in game one and senior
Abbey Mixon (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) getting the victory in game two.
Swanson leads the Owls in batting average (.388), hits (26), homeruns (six), doubles (five) and RBI (17), and has started all 21 games at designated player for Kennesaw State.
Henderson continues her tear in the circle and is undefeated in 2013 at 10-0. She owns an ERA of 1.03, which ranks second in the conference, and has eight complete games in nine starts. For the season, Henderson has a league-leading 95 strikeouts, four shutouts and two saves. Mixon has also been very strong for the Owls in the circle and has posted a 1.67 ERA in 54.1 innings. The senior is 7-2 this season, with five complete games and three shutouts. She has totaled 59 strikeouts.
Kennesaw State is 3-0 in true road games in 2013 and holds an 8-7 advantage in the series history with Lipscomb. KSU went 2-1 against the Bison last season, including a 9-2 win over LU in the A-Sun tournament in Spartanburg, S.C.
Lipscomb (10-11, 1-2 A-Sun) is coming off a sweep of Ohio Valley Conference opponent Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., on Wednesday. The Bison won the first game 8-6, followed by a 15-0 five-inning rout in game two. LU started off its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule last weekend, going 1-2 at Jacksonville. The Bison split a pair of 4-3 games on Saturday and fell 3-1 on Sunday.
LU has played most of its games away from Draper Diamond in Nashville, having only played two home games in 2013, dropping both contests.
Kelsey Cartwright leads the Bison with a .378 batting average and has played in 16 of LU’s 21 games. She has registered 17 hits, 14 RBI, five doubles and four homeruns. Leading the Bison in the circle is Heather Parker with an ERA of 1.94 in 68.2 innings. Parker is 3-6 on the season and has seen action in 14 games, starting seven. She has five complete games to her name and has struck out 52 batters this season.
Kennesaw State will next finish up the regular season series with Mercer as the Owls travel to Macon, Ga., on Wednesday, March 20 for a single game against the Bears.
