Final Individual Results
OPELIKA, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team finished tied for eighth after a final 36 holes at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Auburn at the Grand National Lake Course.
The Owls fell from a tie for third after struggling through a tough second round on Tuesday. Kennesaw State shot a 24-over-par 312 to fall out of contention.
“Our second round just really hurt us today,” Head Coach
Jay Moseley said. “Heading into the round we had a good chance to win the tournament, but some uncharacteristic play came back to haunt us.”
Kennesaw State regrouped in the third round and carded a 9-over-par 297 to finish with a 38-over-par 902. Led by the consistent play of senior
Peder Lunde Hermansson, the native of Sweden finished tied for sixth to tie his season best finish and record his third top 10 finish of 2013. Hermansson carded a three day total of 6-over-par 222 to beat out six golfers ranked in
the top 100 of the Golfstat.com rankings.
“Peder was the bright spot in the lineup for us all week,” Moseley stated. “His consistent play was what gave us a chance; he just didn’t receive any help from his teammates.”
Austin Vick and
Jimmy Beck finished tied for 17th as both sophomores carded a three day total of 9-over-par 229.
Jonathan Klotz closed out play in a tie for 46th at 15-over-par 231, while
Ben Greene rounded out scoring with a tie for 65th after shooting a 21-over-par 237.
Team honors went to No. 41 ranked Mississippi State as the Bulldogs posted a 25-over-par 889. Memphis placed second at 896 and host school Auburn took third place.
Individual honors were won by Bulldogs’ Chad Ramey who turned in a 54 holes score of 3-under-par 213 to finish as the only competitor sub-par. Auburn’s Niclas Carlsson finished runner-up with an even par 216 while a trio of individuals tied for third.
