Round One Results I Live Scoring
OPELIKA, Ala. – Kennesaw State sophomore Jimmy Beck fired a 1-under-par 71 to help lead the Owls to a tie for third place finish after round one of the Tiger Invitational at the Grand National Lakes Course.
Beck finished just two-strokes off the pace of leader Michael Garretson’s 3-under-par 69. Beck tallied six birdies on the round with three on each nine.
The team carded a 5-over-par 293 to tie with Wake Forest after the opening 18-holes. KSU is three-strokes behind leader East Carolina (290), and just one stroke behind No. 41 ranked Mississippi State.
Sophomore Austin Vick carded an opening round of 73 to sit tied for 13th, while junior Jonathan Klotz opened with a 74 to tie for 20th.
Senior Peder Lunde Hermansson shot a 75 and is tied for 29th, and senior Ben Greene rounded out play for the Black and Gold at 77 to tie for 44th place.
“I am pleased with our first round,” Head Coach Jay Moseley said. “We have to continue playing consistent golf if we want a chance to win. We know we are capable of producing two great rounds, so we will get a good night sleep and give it our best shot tomorrow.”
Round two of the Tiger Invitational was cancelled on Monday due to inclement weather. Play is scheduled to resume on Tuesday with the second round at 9:30 a.m. E.T., with the final round immediately following.
