ATLANTA – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team snapped its three-match winning streak as the Owls fell to No. 38 Georgia State, 7-0, at the Blackburn Tennis Center on Friday.
KSU drops to 3-5 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 5-5.
In doubles action, junior
Alexandra Apostu and sophomore
Virginie Stein dropped an 8-4 decision to the No. 51-ranked doubles tandem of Abigail Tere-Apisah and Masa Grgan.
Apostu opened her No. 2 singles match against Masa Grgan by winning the first set, but dropped a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (16-14) heartbreaker in a final set tiebreaker.
At No. 1 singles, Stein fell 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) to Abigail Tere-Apisah, the No. 22 ranked singles player in the nation.
Kennesaw State next hosts Troy on Sunday, March 3 at 12 p.m. (ET) at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 2, but weather forced the contest to be postponed until Sunday.
