The Owls never led in the ballgame as Stetson took the early 4-0 lead on the Owls right out of the gate. Gideon put KSU on the scoreboard at the 16:58 mark with a pair of free throws to make it 4-2 before putting in the team’s first field goal of the game seven-minutes in on a layup.
Six straight points from the Hatters then put the home team up by double-figures for good with 12:06 to go in the first half. The Owls got back within 11 points on two separate occasions in the first half, both on three-pointers with
Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) and

Holliday went on to cut a 22-point lead for Stetson down to 19 with a triple at the 16:28 mark of the second half before the Hatters took control of the ballgame, taking a 74-46 victory on their home floor.
Gideon’s 17 points were tops for the Owls offensively and her 12 rebounds led both squads on the boards. Holliday was the only other Owl in double figures with 15 as the two seniors combined for 32 of KSU’s 46 points.
