Men’s Tennis to Face No. 67 Georgia Tech in First-Ever Meeting

MATCH NOTES

KENNESAW, Ga. –
The Kennesaw State men’s team is set to face Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Georgia Tech on Sunday, March 3 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta, Ga. The Match is scheduled for 6 p.m. (ET).
 
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
 
Kennesaw State was originally slated to play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this weekend, but due to weather the schedule was changed. KSU’s matches against Georgia State on Saturday, March 2 and Jackson State on Sunday, March 3 have been cancelled. The Owls’ match versus Austin Peay on Friday, March 1 has been postponed and is rescheduled for Monday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga.
 
KSU (2-4, 0-0 Atlantic Sun) is coming off of a 5-2 loss versus Presbyterian last Saturday. Freshman Tobi Menhofer led KSU against the Blue Hose, going 2-0. He first teamed with sophomore Louis Theodor in an 8-4 win over William O’Connell and Andrew Brigham. It was the duo’s conference-leading fifth doubles victory of the season, all of which have come at the No. 1 doubles position.
 
Menhofer then posted a 6-4, 6-4 win over Grayson Mills at No. 1 singles, his team-leading third singles victory of 2013. Menhofer’s three wins have all come at No. 1 singles for the Owls. Senior Gianni Kubin and freshman Maksim Yorsh also tallied an 8-6 victory on court two as the Owls claimed its third doubles point of the season. It was the first time the tandem had played together this season.
 
No. 67 Georgia Tech (5-5, 0-0 Atlantic Coast) posted a 4-3 come-from-behind win over over No. 61 Georgia State on Thursday as the Yellow Jackets were down 3-1 before rallying. GT has also notched wins against fellow A-Sun teams Lipscomb, North Florida, and Mercer.
 
GT owns the nation’s No. 3 ranked doubles tandem in Juan Spir and Vikram Hundal, who are 7-2 this spring and knocked off the nation’s top-ranked duo at Auburn last weekend. GT doubles teams have produced points in seven of Tech’s 10 matches.
 
Kennesaw State next travels to Charleston, S.C., for a neutral site match against Campbell on Wedneday, March 6 at 10 a.m.
