THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women’s basketball team makes its final push for the General Shale Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in the team’s final two regular season games, starting on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. ET at Stetson.
The Owls now sit at 7-12 on the year and 3-13 in the A-Sun standings, one game ahead of Lipscomb at 2-14 with two games remaining.
Stetson is looking to improve upon its third place spot on the leaderboard, holding steady at 19-8 on the season and 12-4 in the conference.

THE OPPONENT
Stetson remains at home for its final two games of the season where the Hatters are 12-1, losing their first game in the Edmunds Center against Florida Gulf Coast on Monday after winning their first 12 in a row in Deland, Fla.
The Hatters are currently outscoring their opponents by 10 points on average while shooting 44 percent from the field as a team.
Senior guard Victoria McGowan is third in the league in terms of scoring, averaging 16.2 points per game with 422 total points.
THE SERIES
Stetson holds the edge in the all-time series, 11-3, taking the first meeting this season on Jan. 2, in the KSU Convocation Center, 57-52.
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) earned her seventh double-double of the year during the contest with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead KSU.
Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglas County HS) put together a nice ballgame as well, putting in eight points with eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
Last Outing
In the home finale for a pair of Kennesaw State women’s basketball seniors, the black and gold fell, 55-49, to Atlantic Sun Conference newcomer Northern Kentucky in the final game at the KSU Convocation Center in the 2012-13 campaign.
Gideon, Kennesaw State’s (7-21, 3-13 A-Sun) all-time leading scorer and rebounder, was good for 13 points and eight rebounds while Holliday earned five points to go with her five assists.
Wells led the black and gold offensively with 19 points, going 7-of-13 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line with a pair of assists and steals.
As a team, the Owls shot 40 percent from the field, 46 percent in the second half alone, as KSU outscored NKU in the final period, 28-24.
THE NUMBERS
Gideon is one of just a handful of players in the nation to average a double-double with 11.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game after picking up her 12
th double-double of the season against Lipscomb
The three-point defense of KSU is one of the best in the A-Sun and one of the top 30 in the nation, holding opponents to just a 26.7 percent success rate from beyond the arc.
The Owls are committing just 11 fouls per game, putting KSU at No. 4 in the nation in fewest personal fouls per contest.

The Owls will play their regular season finale this Saturday, March 2 at Florida Gulf Coast. Opening tip from Fort Myers, Fla. is set for 7:30 p.m.

Gideon’s Double-Doubles
Senior Sametria Gideon is the only player in the A-Sun to be averaging a double-double on the season with 11.1 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. Gideon continues to lead the A-Sun in rebounding with her 10.4 boards per outing average. The senior is now No. 22 in the nation in total double-doubles with her 12 this season.
Gideon in Rare Company
Gideon is one of just four active players in the country to be a school’s career points and rebounds leader. The only 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound player in school history, Gideon now has 1,032 points and 1,070 rebounds to her name.
Four Owls Averaging Double-Digits
Four Owls are now averaging double-figures scoring including Gideon (11), Wells (11), Holliday (10) and four-time A-Sun Newcomer of the Week

Racking up the Minutes
Three Owls rank in the top 10 in the A-Sun in minutes played per game. Holliday is third at 34.6, Wells sits in fourth at 33.1 and Gideon is in fifth with 33.
Milestones to look out for
Holliday-949 points. Gideon-21 rebounds away from the KSU single season record of 311, holding 290, and five blocks away from the single season record of 47.
