MARIETTA, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s tennis team (2-4) earned the doubles point and freshman Tobi Menhofer tallied his third singles victory of the season as the Owls fell to Presbyterian (7-6), 5-2, on Saturday at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.

“We played some very good doubles out there today,” said Head Coach T.J. Greggs. “I am especially proud of Maks and Gianni, who were playing together for the first time, and beat a very good team. In singles, Tobi played a solid match, and we fought on every court. For us to come back from a set down on the last three courts is promising. We just need to do a better job of closing it out.”

KSU opened the match on a positive note, winning its third doubles point of the season. Menhofer and sophomore Louis Theodor teamed to post an 8-4 win over Andrew Brigham and William O’Connell at No. 1 doubles, moving the duo’s record to 5-1 this season. Senior Gianni Kubin and freshman Maksim Yorsh then clinched the 1-0 lead for the Owls with an 8-6 defeat of Grayson Mills and Rafael Berghaus on court two. It was the first time the tandem had played together this season.

In singles action, the Owls fell behind 2-1 with losses on courts two and three, before Menhofer tied the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mills at No. 1 singles.

After being down a set, Kubin, senior Gokalp Ozdemir and sophomore Alexander Pena each fought to push their respective matches to a final and decisive third set. Presbyterian would prevail in all three matches to earn the 5-2 win.

The Owls next face Austin Peay on Friday, March 1 at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center in Marietta, Ga. The match is schedule to begin at 2 p.m. (ET).
