KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State softball team (9-1) is set to host the 2013 Phyllis Rafter Memorial on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23-24 at Bailey Park.
The Owls open the tournament against Bowling Green on Saturday at 2 p.m. (ET), followed by a 4 p.m. contest against Youngstown State. KSU wraps the tournament on Sunday against Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. Admission is free for the tournament.
The tournament was originally scheduled for Feb. 22-24 at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Woodstock, Ga., but impending weather forced tournament officials to cancel Friday’s games and relocate to Bailey Park and Georgia State’s Heck Softball Complex.
The 11 teams competing in the tournament will be split between the two facilities, with Virginia Tech, Bowling Green, Youngstown State, Jacksonville State and Campbell playing at Bailey Park. Teams competing at GSU including the Panthers, North Carolina State, Akron, Northern Colorado and Troy.

Last time out, KSU earned its fifth one-run win of the season in a 3-2 thriller over Samford on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Bailey Park. With the win over the Bulldogs, KSU improved to 6-0 in the friendly confines of Bailey Park.
Senior pitcher
Abbey Mixon (Canton, Ga./Cherokee HS) had a strong outing, tallying eight strikeouts in six innings while only allowing two earned runs and improved to 3-0 on the season.
Junior pitcher
Amanda Henderson (Covington, Ga./Eastside HS) second-straight Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week honor of the season on Monday after posting three wins over the weekend at the KSU Classic, including a pair of complete game shutouts. In the tournament, Henderson registered a 0.00 ERA and did not give up a run, while only allowing nine hits in 18 innings of work.
Freshman
Missy Perkowski (Woodstock, Ga./Sequoyah HS) leads the Owls with a .538 batting average, notching seven hits, including a double, in 13 at-bats on the season.
Senior
Sharon Swanson (Woodstock, Ga./Cherokee HS) owns a .382 batting average for KSU and has started every game at designed player for the Owls. She has registered 13 hits, including five doubles, five RBI and four runs this season.
The Owls next host UAB in doubleheader on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Bailey Park. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. (ET).
