KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team is looking to improve upon its opening win of the 2013 as the Owls travel to Montgomery, Ala., for a pair of matches at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center. KSU first battles Alabama A&M at 10 a.m., followed by 3 p.m. match against Alabama State.
KSU (1-4) is coming off its first win of the 2013 season, a 4-3 victory at Georgia Southern. Senior
Therese Lagerkvist (Koping, Sweden / Adalsskolan) secured the win with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 decision over Natalie Maffett at No. 5 singles.
Alabama A&M (0-1) opened the 2013 season with a 7-0 loss to Auburn under new Head Coach Willis Mbandi. Kennesaw State holds a 4-1 advantage in the all-time series and won last season’s meeting 7-0 in Montgomery.
Alabama State (0-5) is in search of its first win of the season after dropping five straight matches. KSU holds a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series with the Hornets, having won last season’s meeting 7-0 in Montgomery.
Kennesaw State will have a couple of weeks off before traveling to Atlanta for a 2 p.m. match against Georgia State.
