Kennesaw, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Cross Country teams competed in the Atlantic Sun Championships at Vaughan's Gap Course on Saturday, November 2 in Nashville, Tenn. The women's team placed ninth and the men's team came in 10
th.

The women were led by junior
Sydney Williams, who finished 36
th with a time of 19:35.26, which was her fastest time of the year in her third A-Sun Championship race. Sophomore
Andzelika Bobrova was next to cross the line in 46
th with a time of 19:58.47. Right behind Bobrova,
Greciana Cooper finished in 49
th with a time of 19:58.47.

Sophomore
Amanda Cope continued her strong sophomore year crossing the line in 58
th with a time of 20:23.19. To finish off the scoring for the Owls,
Paige Tucker finished in 67
th with a time of 20:40.53.

"I've enjoyed being around this team more than any I've ever coached," Head Coach
Joel Pearson said. "After being here today, they have seen what it takes to be a top team in this conference and are ready to put the work in that it requires to be one of those teams."

Claire Bohrer finished in 73
rd with a time of 20:58.48. Freshman
Shelby Wilson came in right after Bohrer in 74
th with a time of 21:04.53.
Blair Gelb crossed the line in 78
th with a time of 21:22.10, and Lilly Kidane finished with a time of 21:32.71 that was good for 80
th.

Brett Carter led the men's team and ran his best race of the year. Carter crossed the finish line in 52
nd place with a time of 27:50.80. That mark is the first time Carter has run an 8k in under 28 minutes and is a new personal record for him.

"We knew coming in this was going to be a tough year for the men with most of the team filling in to help us out," Pearson said. "We'll continue to work hard to make sure that next year we are much improved."

The other men's runners were
Kaarel Mangusson, Mathew Morris,
Joshua Mulder, and
Tyshawn Smith. Mangusson finished with a time of 32:52.06 that was good for 74
th place, Morris finished in 76
th with a time of 33:00.77, Mulder finished with a time of 34:01.06 in 78
th, and Smith came in right behind him in 79
th with a time of 38:41.94.

This race marks the end of the season for both teams and completes Pearson's first season as the head coach.

"I've had a lot of fun in my first season at Kennesaw State," Pearson said. "These teams were great to coach, and I'm very excited to continue to work with them so we can get back to winning championships."
