TUCSON, Ariz. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team wrapped up the Arizona Intercollegiate on Tuesday as the Owls finished seventh in the fifteen team field on the Golf Club at Vistoso, a par 71, 6,954 yard layout.
“Overall it was a solid performance to start the spring season,” Head Coach
Jay Moseley said. “We played well but left shots on the greens and had bad stretches of golf. We know the things we have to work on to get better and we will do so. This was the first time playing golf in the desert and we held our own against a great field.”
KSU moved up to seventh place after round three with a combined total of 871, +19. The outing ties their 19-over-par performance at the Carpet Capital Collegiate earlier this year, the second best team total behind the Pinetree Intercollegiate where the team registered a four-under-par.
For the second tournament this season,
Peder Lunde Hermansson led the Owls as he put together a 54-hole score of 210, -3 to place seventh. Hermansson was one of only 10 golfers in the 92 individual field to shoot under-par. He also collected wins over eight golfers ranked in the top-100 of the latest Golfstat.com rankings.
“Peder had a great tournament and was able to put up good numbers for us,” Moseley stated. “He really played well the entire tournament and I am happy for him. We know what Peder is capable of doing and I hope he can continue his great play into the spring.”
