THE GAME:
The Kennesaw State women’s basketball team remains on the road this Monday, Jan. 28, as the Owls take on Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., in a 7 p.m. Atlantic Sun Conference matchup.
Head coach
Nitra Perry’s squad is looking to improve upon its 4-16 overall record while bettering the team’s 0-8 mark in the A-Sun standings against the Bison, who currently hold a 2-16 record and are 1-7 in the conference.

THE OPPONENT
The Bison are looking to overcome a four-game losing streak as they host the Owls in Allen Arena on Monday night.
Senior guard Hannah Phillips is one of the top scorers in the A-Sun, averaging 12 points per outing and has now eclipsed the 200-point margin for the season. 6-3 center Jess Reece is one of the most proficient scorers in the A-Sun, holding a .522 field-goal percentage.
THE SERIES
The Owls hold a three-game edge over the Bison in the all-time series, 7-4, but fell in the last meeting between the two schools, 72-64, in the KSU Convocation Center on Feb, 25, 2012.
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) put up 16 points and eight rebounds during the loss with five blocks.
LAST OUTING
A 38-point second half outing from the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team was stopped just short as the Owls fell to Northern Kentucky University, 65-49, in the first ever meeting between the two schools on Saturday, Jan. 26.
Gideon finished the game with her 10
th double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds, one shy of her career high, with a 4-for-6 night from the charity stripe.
Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) also ended with 12, hitting on a pair of threes to go with her team-high three assists.
Chelsea Mason (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) was the third Owl to finish in double-figures scoring with her 11.
The combination of
Christine Wylie (Ballarat, Australia/Ballarat HS) and
Nicole Adams (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf HS) went off for 12 points on the night, Adams putting in a career-high eight with Wylie tipping in a season-best four. Adams also set a new career mark with three field goals while Wylie earned a season-high with three blocks.
As a team, KSU pulled in 38 rebounds, tying with the Norse in that category, with Gideon’s 14 the top mark for both squads. Mason was good for eight rebounds as well while Wylie hauled in five.
THE NUMBERS
Gideon is one of just 36 players in the nation to average a double-double with 11.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
KSU is now averaging 7.3 steals per game in conference games only, picking up 51 total takeaways in seven games.
The Owls are committing just 12 fouls per game, putting KSU at No. 5 in the nation in fewest personal fouls per contest.
NEXT UP
The Owls will complete the three-game road stretch this Saturday, Feb. 2, as the black and gold head to cross-state rival Mercer for a 2 p.m. contest against the Bears.

Gideon’s Double-Doubles
Gideon now ranks in the top 25 nationally in total double-doubles with ten after a 12 point, 14 rebound outing at NKU. The senior is one of just 36 players in the NCAA to be averaging a double-double on the year and the only player in the A-Sun to do so. Gideon currently leads the league in rebounding and is the only player to be averaging double-digit boards with 10.3 rebounds per game.
Kennedy Steps up Her Game
Chantel Kennedy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Colorado State) has stepped her game up in league play, averaging 32 minutes per game with 6.7 rebounds and 14 steals in A-Sun matches only this season.
Holliday from Beyond the Arc
Holliday now has 33 three-pointers on the year, putting the senior in the top five on the leaderboard in the conference in that category with a 9.8 points per game average.
Adams and Wylie Chipping in
In the last game for KSU at NKU, Wylie and Adams combined for 12 points, a career-high eight for Adams with three field goals and four points for Wylie, a season high in that category. Wylie also earned a season-high three blocks.
Milestones to Look Out For
Holliday is seeking her 1,000
th career point, holding steady at 869, and her 200
th three-pointer, currently sitting at 193 makes from beyond the arc. Gideon is currently looking for rebound 1,000, bringing in 992 so far.
