CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team (0-1) opened its 2013 dual match season witin a 6-1 loss to Chattanooga (1-0) on Friday night at the Hixon Raquet Club. Junior
Alexandra Apostu (Bucharest, Romania/ Ion Barbu) tallied wins in both of her singles and doubles matches to lead the Owls.
Despite an 8-6 doubles win from Apostu and sophomore
Virginie Stein (Gevelsberg, Germany / Gymnasium Gevelsberg) at No. 1 doubles, the Owls gave Chattanooga an early 1-0 advantage with losses on courts two and three.

Therese Lagerkvist (Koping, Sweden/ Adalsskolan) and sophomore
Tamara Plocher (Cologne, Germany / Albertus-Magnus-Gymnasium) dropped straight-set matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots to put Kennesaw State down three points.

Isabela Castro (Brazil/ Santa Doroteia) fought to keep the Owls in the contest, before falling in straight-sets on courts one and six.
Apostu ended the night on a positive note for KSU, earning a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Kaylene Chadwell. Sophomore
Jana Hueckinghaus (Gevelsberg, Germany / Gymnasium Gevelsberg) forced three sets, before dropping a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 decision to Alexa Flynn.
KSU continues its spring season on Friday, Feb. 1 against Samford in Birmingham, Ala. The match is slated to start at 10 a.m. ET.
