1/21/2013 4:53:00 PM

KENNESAW, Ga. – In recognition of Martin Luther King Day, athletes, coaches and administrators of the Kennesaw State Department of Athletics take time to reflect on the many sacrifices he made in efforts to achieve equality.

His ability to speak was his most favorable attribute as his speeches are forever etched in American history. His ability to speak allowed him to verbalize the importance of equality as he tirelessly fought for civil rights. Dr. King, an avid supporter of athletics understood with amazing insight, the symbolic power of sports. He understood that the playing field and athletes could be a powerful megaphone for civil rights and racial justice.

Today, fellow Kennesaw State athletes, coaches and administrators take time thank Dr. King, and reflect on his many sacrifices.

Kennesaw State University is celebrating 30 years of intercollegiate athletics during the 2012-13 academic year.
