The black and gold will look to better their 4-11 record and 0-3 mark in league play as they face off against the 6-9 Ospreys of North Florida, who sit at .500 in the Atlantic Sun Conference at 2-2.

LIVE VIDEO: A-Sun Television will have a live stream of Saturday’s game from Jacksonville, Fla., starting at 2 p.m.
LIVE STATS: Statistical updates will be available from UNFOspreys.com at the start of the game.

THE OPPONENT
The Ospreys return home after a pair of games on the road, taking losses at both Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast over the past week.

UNF has struggled to get the offense going so far this season, averaging a conference-low 50 points per game. Senior guard Jadhken Kerr leads the Ospreys in scoring with an 8.3 points per game average.

In the paint, center Raneisha Lamar is a solid veteran force, averaging 6.7 points per game while leading the Ospreys in both field goal percentage (.466) and rebounds (6.3 rebounds per game).

THE SERIES
Kennesaw State holds the all-time edge over North Florida, 8-5, but did drop the last meeting by eight points, 64-56, on Feb. 18, 2012 in Jacksonville, Fla.

Kristina Wells (Douglasville, Ga./Douglas County HS) scored a then career-high 19 points against the Ospreys with four rebounds and six assists.

The Ospreys have proven tough to defeat at the UNF Arena, however, winning the last three meetings on their home floor.

LAST OUTING
Sametria Gideon (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones HS) put up her second consecutive double-double performance, but the effort wasn’t enough as the Kennesaw State women’s basketball team fell in Atlantic Sun Conference action to in-state rival Mercer on Saturday night, 71-46.

#Chelsea Mason’s# (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West HS) 14 points led the Owls offensively with Gideon the only other KSU player in double-figures with her 11, seven of which came from the free-throw line.

The Owls did manage to outrebound their opponent for the second straight game, bringing in 45 rebounds to Mercer’s 44. Gideon’s 14 led both teams.

Chantel Kennedy (Brooklyn, N.Y./Colorado State) put together a nine rebound, three assist, three steal night of her own, coming off the bench to play 30 minutes.

THE NUMBERS
The three-point defense of KSU is the best in the A-Sun and one of the top 50 in the nation, holding opponents to just a .261 success rate from beyond the arc.

The Owls are committing just 12 fouls per game, putting KSU at No. 7 in the nation in fewest personal fouls per contest.

NEXT UP
After taking on Jacksonville on Jan. 14, Kennesaw State will return home on Jan. 19-21, for two A-Sun home games against East Tennessee State and USC Upstate.

NEWS AND NOTES
Gideon’s Double-Doubles
Gideon now ranks in the top 10 nationally in total double-doubles with eight after recording back-to-back double-doubles over the past two games. The senior is one of just 36 players in the NCAA to be averaging a double-double on the year and the only player in the A-Sun to do so. Gideon currently leads the league in rebounding and is the only player to be averaging double-digit boards with 10.5 rebounds per game.

Owls Rebounding Well
In the first three conference games for Kennesaw State, the Owls have outrebounded all three opponents by a 121-114 margin.

Milestones to look out for
Three Owls are closing in on career milestones in the next few games. Ashley Holliday (Greenville, S.C./J.L. Mann Academy) will be playing in her 100th career game against North Florida, becoming the second Owl to do so. The senior is also seeking her 1,000th career point, holding steady at 822. Gideon is currently looking for rebound 1,000, sitting at 945 while Wells is seeking her 500th career point at 433.

Mason Becoming Top Freshman
Mason is quickly becoming one of the top freshmen in the A-Sun, earning her third Newcomer of the Week award seven days ago.  Mason is averaging 9.8 points per game so far with an average of 27.5 minutes per outing.

Adams Stepping in
Redshirt freshman Nicole Adams (New Port Richey, Fla./Gulf HS) has provided a boost of the bench since starting conference play, putting in nine points in 51 total minutes played.
