Men's Golf in Eighth With One Round Remaining at Shoal Creek Intercollegiate

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team concluded the opening two rounds of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in eighth place, after posting a 12-over-par, 588 on day one at the par 72, 7,234 yard Shoal Creek Country Club.

With one round remaining, the Owls are led by sophomore Jimmy Beck who sits in a tie for 10th place after carding a 70-73 to remain one-under-par. Junior Jonathan Klotz finished one-over-par on the day, after rounds of 72, 73, which tied him for 13th, while senior Peder Lunde Hermansson and sophomore Austin Vick each finished tied for 35th with a six-over-par, 150 to round out the scoring for the Black and Gold.

The Owls squandered many opportunities to climb the leaderboard as the team combined for 35 birdies over 36 holes. Houston ran away from the field in the second round with a 279, to finish with a five-under-par, 571. The Cougars ended as the only team sub-par as the second place Tigers of LSU are even par at 576. Host school UAB is third at one-over-par, 577, while Tulsa and Memphis are tied for fourth after each squad shot a two-over-par, 578.

Rodolfo Cazaubon of North Texas leads the individual field at six-under-par, 138. A pair of LSU Tigers is tied for second with Stewart Jolly and Curtis Thompson at five-under-par, 139, while UAB’s Sam Love and Houston’s Wesley McClain are tied for fourth at four-under-par, 138.

The Owls will tee of for the final round of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. ET, and will be paired with Houston and Southeastern Louisiana. Live stats of the Intercollegiate can be viewed at Golfstat.com.
