NCAA Championship Central I Schedule

KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State’s Kendall Parks will look to win on collegiate track and field’s most prestigious stage, the 2012 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships hosted at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa on June 6-9.

Parks will participate in the 110-meter hurdles that will begin on Thursday with the semifinal race at 7:50 p.m. E.T. He enters the race ranked 20th nationally with a time of 13.75. The senior posted the time at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships East Preliminary Rounds in Jacksonville, Fla., setting a new KSU record along the way.

Kendall represents the eighth KSU track and field member to represent the Black and Gold at the NCAA Championships. Joshua McNair, a thrower for the Owls was the last to accomplish the feat as he represented the squad last season in 2011.

“Kennesaw gave me an opportunity to compete as well as earn my degree, so this is my way of repaying them,” Parks said. “I am hurdling for my teammates, coaches, school, family and friends who have supported me through out my collegiate career. I will hopefully be going out with a bang.”

Earlier this season at the Drake Relays, on the same track, Parks posted a second place time of 13.79. In order to track down a National Championship, Parks will have to have a performance of a lifetime and run in the range of 13.35 -13.40 to give himself a chance at gold.

This year’s national championships will be streamed live, beginning with the opening day on NCAA.com and airing its entirety. The following three days will be streamed on ESPN3.com, and Saturday’s events will be televised on ESPNU as well starting at 12 p.m. E.T.
