MARIETTA, Ga. - The Kennesaw State men's tennis program was recognized this week by TennisRecruiting.net, the premier site for junior tennis, as they were selected as the No. 17 Mid-Major Class for the Class of 2012.  It marks the first time the team has been honored since the 2009 class of current seniors Gokalp Ozdemir and Gianni Kubin, as well as former Owl and current NCAA Division III team champion Elliot Kahler (Emory University).

The rankings, released on Monday, June 4, were led by Fresno State of the WAC, followed by Louisiana, Tulane, UCF, and UC-Irvine.  The Atlantic Sun Conference was also represented by Stetson, who held down the No. 6 spot.  Florida Gulf Coast also received votes for the Top 25.

"I'm very pleased that we have been recognized for our hard work," commented head coach #T.J. Greggs#.  "We're going to have a very young team this upcoming season, and this class will have more experience on the International level than any class I have had before.  I think it's exciting that Stetson and FGCU also were recognized, as it speaks to the depth of our conference."

The recruiting class that was honored is comprised of incoming student-athletes Jorge Wilton (Ashtead, Great Britain), Maksim Yorsh (Minsk, Belarus) and Tobias Menhofer (Pfronten, Germany).  Wilton and Yorsh have both been ranked within the Top 500 players in the world, and Menhofer has been ranked as high as No. 119 in Europe.

The new Owls will be put to the test immediately this fall when they head to Athens, Ga. to take part in the UGA Southern Intercollegiate Championships September 7-10, 2012.  The Owls will also travel to tournaments at Wake Forest, Chattanooga, and Florida State in the fall.
