MACON, Ga. – Kennesaw State Track and Field athlete Kendall Parks earned his third Atlantic Sun Conference Track Athlete of the Week Award as the conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Parks is coming off a career performance at the historic Drake Relays where he set the school record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.79. Parks’ time assures him of a trip to the NCAA Preliminaries, May 24 in Jacksonville, Fla., and currently has him ranked No. 51 in the world according to the International Association of Athletics Federations and No. 20 in the country by USTFCCCA rankings.
At the 2012 A-Sun Championship, Parks recorded a conference-record time of 14.02 in the 110m hurdles and a second place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.25.
A native of Dacula, Ga., the senior graduated on Wednesday with an Exercise and Physical Science degree. This award is the fifth of Parks’ career.
Parks and the rest of the Track and Field team will be in competition this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational as this will be the last chance to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships- East Preliminary Rounds are scheduled for May 24-26 at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. A venue the Owls are very familiar with as both teams finished second earlier this season at the stadium in the 2012 A-Sun Championship.
