KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State Department of Athletics hosted 144 golfers at BridgeMill Athletic Club on Monday, May 21 for the 18th Annual Dot Martin Scholarship Golf Classic. The event raised a total of $73,700 that will go towards scholarships for Kennesaw State student-athletes.

A total of $541,000 has been raised in the 18 years that KSU has run this extremely successful event, and $390,000 has been raised since 2005.

The event is named after the late Dot Martin who, along with her husband Roy, started the first athletic booster club at Kennesaw State back when their son Brad played baseball for the Owls in the early 1990's. Together, the Martins, along with Carl and Karen Hames, whose son Matt played basketball for the Owls, formed the core of the planning committee for the first 10 years of the event. Former athletic director Dr. Dave Waples re-named the event after Mrs. Martin in 1999.

"The Dot Martin Scholarship Golf Classic continues to reach its goals with the unwavering support of our donors and corporate partners," Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams said. "Raising funds to support our student-athletes' scholarship needs is priority number one in Owl Athletics. It was another great day for the Owl Athletics community and we hope to see all of you again next year."
