ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team ended their season with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional after posting a 54-hole total of 868, +16 at the University of Michigan Course.
The No. 42 ranked Owls carded a 291, +7 in Saturday’s final round. Ending their hopes of another deep postseason run, the Black and Gold hang their hat on another successful season that included three tournament titles.
Matt Nagy finished as the top performer for Kennesaw State with a finish of 25th place. The senior turned in a three round score of 73-72-69=214, +1 to conclude his illustrious career as an Owl.
During his time at KSU, Nagy earned seven top-five finishes and claimed individual medalist honors at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate and at the Barefoot at the Beach Intercollegiate.
Junior Ben Greene finished tied for 28th, shooting a 73-70-72=215, +2, while fellow junior teammate Peder Lunde Hermansson tied for 35th with a 69-74-75=218, +5.
Jimmy Beck concluded his freshman campaign with a tie for 45th place. Beck posted a 73-74-5=222, +9. Senior Jeff Karlsson also completed his tenure at KSU with a tie for 49th after turning in a 72-74-77=223, +10. Karlsson wraps up a memorable career as an Owl as well. The native of Sweden finishes with four career titles to his credit.
USC, which will host the national championship next week, won the Central Regional with an 841, -11, followed by Oregon at 842, -10. Kent State place third at 844, -8, followed by Virginia, 846, -6 and TCU, 849, -3 round out the low five teams that will advance and move on to California.
