KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team couldn’t mount a rally as it fell short to Georgia Southern, 7-3, on Tuesday night at Stillwell Stadium.

Georgia Southern (29-24) opened the game’s scoring in the top of the first inning as it got to KSU starter Nathan Harsh for two runs on one hit to make the score, 2-0.

The Owls (29-22) didn’t let the Eagles have the lead for long as they came back to score two runs of their own in the bottom of the second. Senior Andy Chriscaden started things off for the Black and Gold with a one-out double down the left field line. Senior Will Howard knocked Chriscaden in with an RBI single to right field, and advanced to second on the throw. Howard then went on to steal third base and scored on freshman Max Pentecost’s RBI single to right center to tie the game at 2-2.

The Eagles scored again, and took the lead back for good, in the top of the third as they benefited from a two-out error by the Owls to make the score, 3-2.

Now trailing 5-2, Kennesaw State scored its final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning as senior Aaron Dobbs scored off a GSU error.

The Owls offense couldn’t do anymore damage to the Georgia Southern bullpen as the Eagles used six different pitchers in the game.

Freshman Colton Cross had a solid outing out of the KSU bullpen as he threw two scoreless innings, while striking out three. Howard was the bright spot for the Owls offensively as he went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kennesaw State returns to action on Thursday at 6 p.m. as it will begin its final series of its 2012 regular season against ETSU. Thursday will also be Thirsty Thursday night at Stillwell Stadium where all Cokes will only cost one dollar.
