NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – The Kennesaw State women’s golf team concluded the opening round of the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in second place. The Owls finished at four over par, 289, two strokes behind East Tennessee State.

KSU junior Ket Preamchuen is tied for second in the individual medalist race as she carded a first round score of 70, -2 at the Venetian Bay Golf Club.

Just behind her older sister in seventh place is Kaew Preamchuen. Kaew posted a 72, E and finished off her round with birdies on two of the final four holes to bring her inside the top-10. Also finishing the first 18-holes inside the top-10 was Lea Charpier who sits tied for eighth after turning in a 74, +2.

Also of note for the Owls were the performances of Molly Winnett and Ines Lescudier. Winnett posted a 76, +4 and sits tied for 15th, while Lescudier is tied for 25th at seven over par, 79.

The Buccaneers of ETSU are out in front after round one as they too have three individuals in the top eight. Gabriella Wahl holds the out right individual lead with a 67, -5 on Monday. The Owls remain just two shots off the pace and one stroke ahead of the three time defending champions Stetson.
