KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team will head south for a 6:00 p.m. midweek game versus Georgia Southern on Tuesday at J.I. Clements Stadium.

The Owls (19-14, 8-4) look to avenge their luck on the road, as the team dropped their first series since the opener at Memphis to Lipscomb, after losing the final two of three games this past weekend at Dugan Field. The Black and Gold were edged out by two runs total for the series, as five of the team’s last six losses come by a one-run deficit.

Kennesaw State and Georgia Southern will be meeting for the 11th time on Tuesday with the Eagles having won six of the last seven meetings. Southern’s two victories in 2011 came with the assistance of slugger Victor Roache, who has not made an appearance since their game versus Radford in late February.

Georgia Southern (18-15, 8-7) is on a five game winning streak, sweeping conference opponent Davidson on the road in their latest series. The Eagles success can be attributed to junior Chris Beck, who was named the Louisville Slugger's National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball on Monday, April 2nd.

This will be the first of two midweek match ups, as the team will return home Wednesday to face Alabama State in the 2nd annual Diamond Dig sponsored by Shane Co. The first 300 fans 18 years of age and older will be allowed to go onto the field and search for a loose diamond following the game. Each fan wishing to participate must register prior to the fifth inning at the main gate. Each fan will receive a spoon courtesy of Shane Co.

First pitch on Tuesday is slated for 6 p.m. E.T., as Kevin McCoy (0-1, 2.37) will face off against left-handed pitcher Sam Howard (2-1, 9.53). KSU enters the week tied for second in the Atlantic Sun standings with Lipscomb. The team will host pre-season conference favorite Stetson in a three game series this weekend.
