Owls win fourth straight Atlantic Sun match, ETSU next

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team took down USC-Upstate today on the campus of the Spartans, by a score of 6-1.  The Owls swept the doubles matches before winning five of six singles.  It was the fourth consecutive conference win for the Owls (12-6, 4-2 A-Sun) and sixth straight win overall.  The Spartans fall to 6-13, 3-4 in the A-Sun.

The Owls were led once again by senior captain Vera Shkundina, who raised her conference record to 6-0 this season with a straight sets win at the top spot.  Also remaining unbeaten in A-Sun play were Owl No. 2 and No. 3, Alexandra Apostu and Virginie Stein.  Picking up another convincing win at the No. 4 spot was Jana Hueckinghaus, who won 6-1, 6-1. 

The Owls will travel to ETSU on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. matchup with the Bucs.  The Bucs sit in the No. 2 spot in the conference standings with a 6-1 record, while the Owls are close behind in a tie for third at 4-2.
