Game Notes
KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State baseball will travel to Fort Myers, Fla., to resume Atlantic Sun Conference play with a three game series against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles beginning Friday.
The Owls (28-17, 12-6) beat the former first place team Belmont in two of three games this past weekend and currently sit a game back of top seeded USC Upstate (29-12, 13-5). Kennesaw enters the contest versus the Eagles (15-25, 6-9) having won nine of their last 11 games.
Backed by a potent offensive attack, the Black and Gold are currently No. 4 in the country with 473 hits on the season. Making a push as one of the nations best hitters, senior Andy Chriscaden ranks first amongst the conference in homeruns with 12 and RBI with 48. With Chriscaden’s power numbers and Aaron Dobbs .369 batting average and ability to steal bases at will, the Owls have solidified themselves as one the conferences top teams.
FGCU took two of three from the Owls at Stillwell Stadium last season, but things are expected to be different as the Eagles rank last in the conference in all offensive categories, while the Owls are either first or second in all but three.
Senior Josh Carr will return to the mound as he is still yet to lose since opening day and bolsters an 8-1 record with a 3.66 ERA. Carr will faceoff against right-hander Ricky Knapp (5-4, 2.28). Kevin Kyle (0-3, 4.00) will be on the bump for Saturday and matches up with Jason Forjet (0-4, 3.41), while Kevin McCoy (1-3, 2.23) will make a weekend starting appearance against Brandon Bixler (2-4, 4.99) on Sunday.
Following the FGCU series, KSU will have a 10-day break in between games before Georgia Southern comes to town and a pivotal series with USC Upstate waits on the backend. For updates throughout each game this weekend, follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsBaseball.
