KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team defeated Savannah State on Wednesday afternoon at Stillwell Stadium with a final score of 9-4 to advance to 28-17. A four run and five run inning gave the Owls all the momentum they would need to take down the Tigers.

Leading the charge for Kennesaw State was Will Howard and Ronnie Freeman. Howard had two RBI on one hit and one run for the night, while teammate Freeman scored two runs on two hits with one RBI.

Travis Dean started the night for the Owls as he held the Tigers to just four hits and two runs in five innings of work. Picking up the win for the squad, Dean moves to 3-0 for the season.

KSU started quickly on SSU, scoring four runs in the second inning. Howard hit a single to plate Freeman, and Andy Chriscaden scored on a throwing error by the catcher. The Owls would add another run on a single by Jacob Bruce, with the final run of the inning coming on a wild pitch that score Ethan Herron.

The Tigers would answer back in the top of the third inning, scoring one run off a double to put them on the board, 4-1 heading to the fourth. Cutting the deficit in half, Joseph McCrary III lifted a homerun over the right field wall to make it a 4-2 game at the end of four.

After a scoreless fifth, Colton Cross would take the mound for Kennesaw State, going three up three down in his first inning of the evening.  In the bottom of the sixth Freeman would hit an RBI double to left center field to score Andy Almonte, widening the lead to 5-3.

Later in the inning Craft delivered an infield single, followed by a double steal that scored Herron. Capping the inning off with a Dobbs triple to right center, the Owls took a 9-2 lead into the final third of the game.

SSU scored two runs in the ninth to make things interesting, but a settled in Drew Duncan polished off the Tigers and secured the Owls third consecutive win.

The Owls will travel to Fort Myers, Florida for a big Atlantic Sun Conference match-up with Florida Gulf Coast starting Friday. Follow all of the action on Twitter @KSUOwlsBaseball.
