KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team will travel to Georgia State on Friday for game one at the GSU Baseball Complex, before returning home for the final two games of the three game series against the Panthers at Stillwell Stadium.
The Owls are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Georgia on Tuesday night, as Kennesaw out hit the Bulldogs, but untimely errors by the defense led to a ninth inning walk off and a 3-2 loss.
KSU boast an 8-6 all time record against the cross-town rival, having won the last match-up 14-6. Senior Andy Chriscaden was the leader of the hitting barrage in last season’s game. Chriscaden totaled four RBI, three hits including a ninth inning homerun and three runs scored.
The Panthers are heading into Friday’s match-up with an upset win over top-10 ranked Georgia Tech to improve to 7-6 on the season. GSU took the lead 5-3 in the fifth as the Yellow Jackets committed four errors in the inning, as it would be enough to give the Panthers their second consecutive win over Tech.
Senior Josh Carr (2-1) will be on the mound for the Black and Gold, as he is set to throw against right-handed pitcher Justin Malone. Carr has won his last two outings with opening series wins versus Memphis and Jacksonville State, while totaling 11 strikeouts in 12 innings of work.
