Preamchuen Sisters Lead Owls to a Fourth Place Finish

MIAMI, Fla. – Kennesaw State women’s golf team concluded the Hurricane Invitational with a fourth place finish, posting a 299-310-319=928, +76 at the Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club.

After ending round one atop of the team leader board and individual leader board, the Owls struggled to find any consistency in their game as they fought 35 mph winds on Tuesday. Kaew Preamchuen, the tournament leader after the first 18-holes finished as the team’s top performer with a tie for 10th place. The freshman carded a 72-80-78=230,  +17 for her first collegiate top-10 finish.

Ket Preamchuen and Ines Lescudier each finished tied for 17th as Ket moved up on the final day, posting a 76, +5 as Lescudier fell from 12th place after turning in a 54-hole score of 77-75-81=233, +20. Freshman Lea Charpier completed the scoring for the Owls with a three-day total of 76-78-85=239, +26 to finish tied for 38th. Junior Molly Winnett finished tied for 45th with a three round total of 74-84-84=242, +29.

No. 16 ranked Ohio State (918, +66) came from behind to beat host school Miami (918, +66) in a two-hole playoff to claim the Invitational team title. Georgia State (926, +74) finished third and former Atlantic Sun foe Campbell (929, +77) placed fifth to round out the top five. Charlotte Lorentzen of Georgia State won the individual title, posting a 219, +6 to beat Ginger Mak of James Madison by one stroke.

The Owls will have a two week break before returning to action in Augusta, Ga., as the team will compete in the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Mar. 16-18. For updates on the Intercollegiate, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsWmsnGolf.
