KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team will faceoff against Georgia on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., in the Gwinnett Baseball Classic, hosted at Coolray Field, in Gwinnett, Ga.
The Owls are coming of a weekend series win versus Jacksonville State, taking the first two games of the series. KSU collected 42 hits in the series and scored 22 runs as they wrapped up Sunday with a 5-2 loss to sit 5-6 on the season.
Senior
Aaron Dobbs had a remarakable start to the series as he moved up the batting order into the leadoff spot. Dobbs went 8 for 11 at the plate, with four RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Dobbs is currently the team leader in stolen bases, triples, walks and total plate appearances.
The Bulldogs hold a slight edge over the Owls with a 5-4 all time record, but KSU has won two of the last three meetings between the two, including a 12-8 win last season in front of the second largest attendance at Stillwell Stadium. Kennesaw put up three consecutive three run innings to jump out to a 9-4 lead. Both teams would score runs through the seventh inning, but the Owls would keep the Bulldogs at a distance as
Andrew Austin pitched the final three innings to close out the game.
