JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – After going the first eight games without scoring a run in the first inning, the Kennesaw State baseball team scored a run in the first inning of all three games against Jacksonville State, but failed to maintain their lead as they dropped game three, 5-2 on Sunday, at Rudy Abbot Field.
The Owls got on the board first on a RBI single by Ronnie Freeman and a sacrifice fly by Andy Chriscaden as the Owls took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Gamecoks scored their first run in the fourth inning after Ben Waldrip hit his third homerun of the series for a solo home run to right center to bring the score to 2-1.
Kennesaw would relinquish their lead in the sixth inning after Kyle Bluestein hit a two-run home run to center field that plated Waldrip and gave JSU a 3-2 lead. Jacksonville scored another run in the seventh and added a final run in the eighth inning to secure the win 5-2.
