KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team would lock up their fifth consecutive series win on Saturday, with a 6-2 victory over North Florida in game two.

Opening the game on the mound was sophomore Steve Janas who was dialed in early. Striking out five Ospreys in three innings, Janas left the game in the third inning, and gave way to senior Zak Griffith.

KSU (17-11, 6-2) would get the games first run in the fourth inning when Max Pentecost roped an RBI double to left center to score Andy Chriscaden.

The Owls would get three more runs in the fifth inning to knock the Ospreys (16-12, 2-6) starter Michael Renner from the game. Aaron Dobbs led off the frame with a single and scored from first on an Andy Almonte double to the right field wall. After a single by Ronnie Freeman put runners on the corners, McGowan picked up an RBI, followed by a Chriscaden RBI single that gave the Black and Gold a 4-0 lead.

UNF scored their first run in the sixth inning on an RBI triple. Quickly erased by the Owls offense, Kennesaw would plate two more runs in their half of the sixth to lead, 6-1.

In relief for Janas, Griffith pitched five solid innings, allowing only one run on three hits to go along with three strikeouts. Despite a solo homerun off of Andrew Austin in the ninth, the pitching staff permitted only six hits en route to a 6-2 win.

Pentecost led the Owls with three hits and picked up his (10) RBI of the season. Peyton Hart, Almonte, Freeman and Chriscaden all had a two-hit outing while Freeman picked up RBI (31) and (32) and Chriscaden tallied his team leading (34) RBI.

Game three of the series is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The KSU Department of Athletics will be sponsoring baseball BINGO, and will be awarding free prizes to the winners.
