KENNESAW, Ga.- The Kennesaw State track and field team will travel to neighboring Georgia Tech on Mar. 30-31, for the second time this outdoor season to compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Competition will take place at the George C. Griffin Track and will feature colleges from all over the state.
The Owls are coming off an impressive showing at their last meet in Athens, Ga., this past weekend, as senior
Kendall Parks claimed another title in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.99, toping some of the South’s top competition. The two-time reigning Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week is now ranked second best in the East Region in the 110m hurdles, and has secured himself a spot in the top 100 for the 400m hurdles.
On the women’s side, the 4x100m team of
LaTia Daniels,
Kentrell White,
Cynthia Davis and
Victoria Jackson also continued their success with another first place finish this past week with a time of 46.30.
Suzee Mills was another athlete to repeat as a title winner as the junior won the hammer throw with a distance of 48.76m.
Last time at the George C. Griffin Track, the squad saw all-around exceptional performances and collected a handful of individual first place finishes from the likes of Parks,
Tyler Crow,
Hendrik Themas,
Jaakko Nieminen,
Josh Jenkins,
Brittany Robinson, Mills,
Gwennetta Jones, and
Michelle Quimby. The squad is looking to have repeat success, as they are eyeing one more meet until the A-Sun Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This years Championship will again be hosted by North Florida on Apr. 20-21.
"We are excited to be competing so close to home and hope to have a good following from the Black and Gold," assistant coach Duane Morris said. "We are gearing up for confernce so we are expecting another solid performance from the team in our last tune-up."
