KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s baseball team will return to the diamond, as they travel to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on the Western Carolina Catamounts, in a mid-week matinee. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m. E.T., on Tuesday at Hennon Stadium.

The Black and Gold (14-10, 4-2) are coming off a four-series winning streak, after taking their weekend series against Atlantic Sun opponent Jacksonville. The Owls haven’t lost a series since Feb. 24-26 when they dropped two-of-three to Memphis.

The Owls had an exceptional showing at the plate, with double-digit hits in both Saturday’s victory (13 hits and 9 runs) and the first contest on Sunday (17 runs and 10 hits). Senior Josh Carr ignited the series with maybe one of his most dominating pitching performances of his career. The Snellville, Ga. native pitched a complete game, while striking out a career-high eight batters and only allowing two runs to one of the A-Sun’s most potent offenses. With the win, Carr moves to 5-1 on the season as he now leads the conference in victories, having not lost since opening day.

Senior Aaron Dobbs has been nothing short of brilliant since being moved to the lead off spot by Head Coach Mike Sinsing. In his last seven games, the Warner Robbins, Ga., native is hitting .500 (15-for-30) with seven walks, seven stolen bases and 11 runs scored. Also catching fire at the right time is fellow senior Andy Chriscaden. Batting 7 for 17 in his last four games, Chriscaden totaled nine RBI, five runs scored with three opportune homeruns.

Western Carolina comes into the contest after they dropped its Southern Conference series finale to UNC Greensboro this weekend, falling 5-1 on Sunday. The loss is the Catamounts’ first at home this year.  The defeat also halted a 14-game home win streak that dated back to the final three-game series of the 2011 season.

In their last showdown at Hennon Stadium, the Owls beat the Catamounts 6-2, as Steve Janas pitched five scoreless innings in his first collegiate start. The right-hander struck out three batters and walked two as he retired the side in order twice and allowed only one runner to reach scoring position.

On the mound for the Owls will be freshman Colton Cross (2-1, 5.32) as he will be throwing against left handed pitcher, Adam Curtis (3-0, 2.67).

The Catamounts will return the favor on Wednesday night when the team travels to the Shake with play beginning at 5:00 p.m. E.T. at Stillwell Stadium. For updates throughout the games, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsBaseball.
