CLINTON, S.C. – The Kennesaw State baseball team avenged last week’s upset loss to Presbyterian, by beating the Blue Hose 8-4 on Wednesday at the PC Baseball Complex.
Kennesaw got on the scoreboard first with a run in the second inning on Andy Chriscaden’s third homerun of the season. The Owls would add three more in the third inning, as they would knock Presbyterian’s Chad White from the game after 2.1 innings pitched.
Four straight KSU batters walked to make the score 2-0. With bases loaded, Chriscaden picked up his second and third RBI with a single to put the Black and Gold in front, 4-0.
KSU would further open the game up in the sixth inning with four more runs. Max Pentecost singled to open the frame and was followed by Jacob Bruce with a single of his own. After a walk to Aaron Dobbs, Peyton Hart belted a two RBI single into left field. Chris McGowan would then single to load the bases, as Freeman would push in a run on a walk, to give KSU an 8-1 advantage.
Presbyterian would make things interesting in the sixth with three runs to cut the deficit in half, but between Justin McCalvin, Caden Furguson and Andrew Austin, the Owls bullpen would shut the door on the Blue Hose and wrap up an 8-4 victory.
Top offensive players for the Owls were Chriscaden who had two hits and three RBI. Hart also had two hits to go along with two RBI, while Dobbs had two hits and one run scored.
Freshman Colton Cross received the win after pitching two innings and striking out four. Drew Duncan went three innings in his first start of the season allowing only one hit and zero earned runs.
The Owls will return to conference play this weekend with a three game series against the Jacksonville Dolphins. KSU looks to build off their recent success over the Dolphins as they took two of three from JU last season.
