BRADENTON, Fla. – The Kennesaw State men’s golf team won round four of the Callaway Match Play 3 to 1 against South Florida on Tuesday at the Concession Golf Course.

The Owls got their first point of the round with out taking a swing as Jeff Karlsson’s opponent withdrew; awarding the senior a 10&11 win.

Freshman Jimmy Beck won 2&1 against Devin Hernandez to secure the teams second point, while Matt Nagy had to go to a 19th hole playoff to win his match. Ending the round all square Nagy lipped out a 15-foot birdie to force his opponent to concede. The third point guaranteed the Owls their only victory of the tournament as they fell to Indiana, Arizona State and UNC Wilmington in the previous rounds.

Junior Ben Greene also had to go extra holes in his match. All square through 18-holes, Greene and Rick Kittelstad halved their match after both pared the par-five 17th hole. Peder Lunde Hermansson dropped a close match on the final hole, losing to Bodi Karsona one-up.

“After playing poorly the first three rounds, I was proud of the way the guys fought today,” head coach Jay Moseley said. “The bottom line is we under performed this week and I am disappointed with our finish. We will use this as a humbling experience and work hard to get better before this weekend.”

Kennesaw will return to action this weekend as they play host of the Linger Longer Invitational. Along with Mercer, the Owls will co-host a 12-team field at the Great Waters Course of Reynolds Plantation.  The event will have 36-holes of strokes play scheduled for Saturday, with a final round on Sunday.
