KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s baseball team is set to travel to Clinton, S.C. as they face Presbyterian for the second time this season on Wednesday. The Owls and the Blue Hose squared off last week at Stillwell Stadium in a 9-6 Presbyterian win.

The Owls (11-9) looked strong in last week’s matchup, as Chris McGowan’s third homerun of the season put the squad in front 5-1, heading into the fourth inning. It would not be enough as Andrew Williams’ three homeruns gave the Blue Hose (9-13) the definitive edge as they outscored the Owls by three runs. The defeat at the “Shake” was KSU’s first loss in five games.

This week the Black and Gold are looking to have the same success on the road as they did this past weekend, taking the conference series opener against Mercer in a 2-1 defeat and winning their third-consecutive series. The Owls looked untouchable after two wins on Friday and Saturday as the KSU’s pitching staff shut down one of the nations top offensive teams to open Atlantic Sun conference play, before falling in a pitcher duel 2-1 on Sunday.

Presbyterian did not have the same luck this weekend, as they lost all three games of its opening Big South Conference series against Liberty, bringing their record to 0-3 in conference play and 9-13 for the season.

The Owls will be led by the reigning conference Player of the Week Ronnie Freeman. The junior went an impressive 9 for 23 at the plate over the span of the last five games. Belting out nine hits that amounted for 12 RBI, Freeman led the Owls to a 3 for 5 week.

First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. E.T., as sophomore Drew Duncan will take to the mound in his first start of 2012. The Blue Hose will return Chad White to the hill. White pitched five innings and allowed five earned runes in his start against the Black and Gold last week.
