Track and Field Returns to Action at Georgia Invite

Owls Found Success at Georgia Invite in 2011

KENNESAW, Ga.- The Kennesaw State track and field team is set to compete at the Georgia Intercollegiate Invitational on Mar. 16-17. The meet is hosted by Georgia Tech and will be held on their home track at the George C. Griffin Track and will feature colleges from all over the state.

Last week on the women’s side, LaShanna Barchue opened the outdoor campaign with the season’s first record as she claimed a first place title in the long jump with a distance of 5.75 meters at the UNF Spring Break Invitational. The 4x100 meter relay team of LaTia Daniels, Cynthia Davis, Kentrell White, and Alicia Whittle claimed KSU’s other school record as the team posted a second place time of 46.70.

The men have also had a successful start to their track season with 12, top-10 performances, including a first and second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles by Kendal Parks and Brian Graham. Parks turned in a time of 14.25 to claim the title, while Graham crossed just behind at 14.60. Graham also recorded an eighth place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.46.

At their last appearance on the George C. Griffin Track, the Black and Gold saw all-around solid performances, with senior Parks leading the squad on the men’s side and junior Suzee Mills showing an exceptional performance for the women. Parks placed first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.10 seconds, while Mills claimed the javelin throw and with a 43 meter mark, setting a new personal best for the season.
