Kennesaw, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men’s baseball team will take on the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Tuesday, in their first of two home games this week. First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. E.T., at Stillwell Stadium.

The Black and Gold (8-7) are coming off an exceptionally good performance after sweeping Georgia State this weekend, closing out the final two wins at home with a walk off hits.

The Owls beat UAB 3-1 in 2011, in the Blazers last appearance at Stillwell Stadium, giving KSU its sixth best start in the program's history and the best-ever start in the Division I era at 4-0. The Owls tied the game in the third inning when Aaron Dobbs tripled to center field, scoring senior Ray Anderson who had walked. The Owls would add solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings as senior Drew Fowlkes drove in the game-winner with a single that scored Andy Chriscaden in the fourth. At their second meeting of the 2011 season, the Black Gold fell to The Blazers 5-3 at Young Memorial Field in Birmingham.

KSU has managed 37 hits in their last three games, scoring a total of 23 runs as they own a 7-1 record when out hitting the opponent. The bullpen for the team has been outstanding as the squad is 4-1 when the pen gets the decision. Led by James Connell (3-0, 0.00 ERA), KSU has been good at holding off their opponent when taking a lead into the late innings.

UAB’s six-game winning streak was put to a halt this weekend at Young Memorial Field, as Penn State edged out the Blazers 5-4 on the final game of the series. UAB boasts an impressive 12-4 record for the 2012 season, as the Blazers have won six of their last seven contests.

On the mound for the Owls will be freshman Colton Cross (1-1, 1.84 ERA) as the freshman will be throwing against Michael Busby (1-0, 1.29 ERA). KSU will also be in action on Wednesday night when the team plays Presbyterian at home, beginning at 5:00 p.m. E.T.
