Match not completed due to rain, with Owls leading 3-2 over Bethune Cookman University

3/10/2012 1:21:00 AM

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The final day of the women's tennis team on Spring Break would prove to be a frustrating one, as the Owls were unavble to finish their match against Bethune Cookman University (9-2), which they were leading by a score of 3-2..  The Owls (6-5) had taken three of the four singles matches that had been completed before rain interrupted play with two matches remaining on court.

In the matches that were completed, the top three for the Owls continued their excellent seasons, as Vera Shkundina, Alexandra Apostu, and Virginie Stein all picked up wins for the Owls.  Freshman Jana Hueckinghaus had already taken the first set of her match at No. 4, but trailed 4-5 in the second set when the rains came and ended play for the day.

The Owls will take some time off after their long trip to Florida,  as they prepare for nationally-ranked Georgia State on March 21st on the road.  The Owls remain at 6-5 with the no-decision
