KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State baseball team is set to travel to Jacksonville, Ala., where the Owls will open a three game series with the Jacksonville Gamcocks at Rudy Abbot Field, begining Friday, Mar. 2-4.
The Black and Gold are 7-8 all time when facing JSU, having won both matchups in 2011. The last time the two squads met the Owls scored in each inning after the second, as they had their second highest scoring game of the 2011 season as Aaron Dobbs, Drew Fowlkes and Jordan Craft each had two hits and Andy Chriscaden hit his ninth home run of the year as the Owls pounded out 12 hits to win 14-6.
In the squads last trip to Rudy Abbot, it was again Dobbs who had an all-star game as he hit a two-run double with the bases loaded to highlight a four-run ninth inning as KSU came-from-behind to defeat JSU, 9-6.
Currently the Owls have lost three in a row with their most recent defeat coming at the hands of No.11 ranked Georgia Tech. For the fourth consecutive game, Kennesaw State (3-5) allowed the opposition to score first as the Yellow Jackets tallied 11 runs before KSU platted their first. Refusing to go quietly, the team's first run came in the fifth inning, as Andy Almonte connected with his second home run of the season to put the Owls on the board, 11-2. The Owls would get three more runs thanks to a three hit night by Ronnie Freeman and Chriscaden’s fourth double of the season, but in the end, it wouldn’t be enough, as the Owls fell 11-5.
Head coach Mike Sansing will return the same weekend rotation to the mound as senior Josh Carr (1-1) will open the series, sophomore Steve Janas (0-1) on Saturday and Alan Buesnitz (0-1) is set to start on Sunday.
First pitch on Friday is slated for a 3:00 p.m. E.T., start with each proceeding game set for 1:00. For updates on the series, you can follow the team on Twitter @KSUOwlsBaseball.
